April 8

Been a great few days on the boat and I get to ghana day after tomorrow!
It's been getting hotter and hotter as we get to ghana and we cross the equator again tomorrow morning at 8:50am! After crossing the equator twice in the same voyage by sea we will now be "snellbacks" not sure if this is an official term or not- but sounds good!
I started a belly flopping contest with a few friends in the pool today- lasted about 5 minutes because the crew asked us to stop but it was funny while it lasted.
We raised 46 thousand dollars in the silent and live auction from 2 nights ago. This money will go to scholarships for future voyages... That's a loot of money. Some of the items that would only get this much money because we are on a ship:
Signed captain's hat $600
Private dinner in the ship's industrial kitchen: $2000
Snack basket with about 10 items in it:$250
10 boxes Girl Scout cookies- $300
Then there were lots of time shares in cool places that brought in a lot of money! The best part was the girl who did the live auction! Her parents run the biggest fancy car auction in the us and she did the whole thing in talking really really fast like you hear at legit auctions- it was awesome and she probably made the ship twice as much as they would have.

I bought calling cards and got to talk to my mom, dad, and all three sisters at once while they were out to lunch! It was soo good to hear their voices and quickly catch up!

I introduced some friends to banana grams a few nights ago- it was really fun and reminded me of Canada!

Another gorgeous day!

  1. Awesome job on the auction, and the bellyflop contest, and the banana grams! What's the girls name who ran the auction? I have friends in that business, and friends who are good customers of that busiess.

Sounds like a great time. Call lots on your birthday!
